Traveling angels - Art
Traveling angels
I paint angel statues as a symbol of something otherworldly made materially present in our world. I also paint our world, the parts of it I have seen myself. Together these works form a story of angels visiting our cities and what they might have seen around them on their journeys. Imagine a cathedral through the eyes of an angel passing by. Or a café terrace. A street in an old town. In this series I talk about contact with something that is benevolent and wonderful and outside our usual day-to-day experience.
The materials used are acrylic paint and markers on canvas. The sizes of works vary, from 24x30 cm to 50x70 cm. Works are not varnished by artist's choice, their sides are also painted and it they can be hung without frames.
